Junior Infants’ Christmas Concert

Junior Infants put on a dazzling display during the Christmas Concert, singing some very popular songs including 'Santa Claus is coming to Town' and 'Rudolf the red nose Reindeer'.

‘Dorothy DoLittle’s Magical Adventure’

Everyone at St. Patrick's Infants' was treated to a very magical puppet show, this week. The story was about Dorothy DoLittle- a lovely but tired and grumpy young girl. However, with the help of some Magic Dust Dorothy goes on a magical adventure where she meets characters who teach her all about being fit and healthy. She learns the secret of the Food and Exercise Pyramids.   It was a truly exciting and engaging story. The children really enjoyed it.

Festive fun for Halloween.

We had a super fun day in school today to celebrate Halloween. We started the day with a spooky assembly- children were dressed up in their halloween costumes and Room 5 recited some halloween rhymes and songs. A special certificate , signed by the Mayor, was presented to James and Lexi for not missing a single day in Junior Infants. After assembly our amazing Parents' Association had plenty of games organised for the boys and girls to play in the Foyer. Well done to all the parents and children for making such an effort with the costumes and makeup.  We wish everyone a happy Halloween and a safe midterm break.

Library visit

Fairytales, stories and fun was the order of the day when room 4 went to visit Mayfield library. 'The Smartest Giant in Town' by Julia Donaldson was joyfully read by librarian Rose. In return, the boys and girls recited their version of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. As well as that, the children got to show off their colouring skills and browse the shelves for books of interest. When we returned to school we sat in our beautiful garden and 'hot seated' some of our favourite fairytale characters. What a great day!!

Everything is spookalicious!

Take a look at some of the 'spookalicious' decorations in our school! We love Halloween and can't wait for our Halloween fun day this Friday.

Maths is so much fun!

It is nearly midterm and the children have had so much fun learning in maths, especially during maths week. We place lots of emphasis on the children using concrete materials and learning through exploration and discovery, ensuring the boys and girls use maths language effectively. We would also like to thank Joy Murray for organising maths trails with the boys in St. Patrick's Boys N.S., keep an eye out for the photos after midterm.

All-Ireland Senior Ladies’ Football Cup

Cork footballer and All Ireland Senior Ladies' Football champion, Orlagh Farmer visited our school with a very shiny and heavy Brendan Martin Cup. The children had great fun lifting the cup and congratulated Orlagh for winnning her 6th title. Congratulations to everyone involved from all at St. Patrick's Infants' School. We hope to see you next year!

Mayor’s visit

It was with great excitement that the children, staff and teachers of St. Patricks Infant's School welcomed Lord Mayor Des Cahill for the Mayor's annual visit. In preparation, the children enjoyed discussing the important role of the City Mayor and made paper chains, medals and pompoms.
